Dr. Alexey Root

I (Alexey Root) saw the Disney film Queen of Katwe today. I really enjoyed it. The film has a heart-warming story and the actors are convincing in their roles. Queen of Katwe also has plenty of chess scenes to satisfy the chess players in the audience.

One game featured a three-on-three pawn position (like the 3-on-3 activity in my book Science, Math, Checkmate: 32 Chess Activities for Inquiry and Problem Solving).  Another game has a smothered mate, like a game I have in Children and Chess: A Guide for Educators.
