Before I began teaching each group, I reminded students to raise their hands to contribute answers. Each group spent about 15 minutes with me. When not with me, each group played chess games supervised by the Chess Program Director.

Queen Day

Explained the Wolf and Sheep activity from Read, Write, Checkmate: Enrich Literacy with Chess Activities. Had students vote about whether they wanted me to play the wolf (queen) or the sheep (pawns) against them. Then I called on them (one move for each student) to make their side's moves while I made my side's moves.

Practice: Played Wolf and Sheep with partners.
