Dr. Alexey Root

Dr. Alexey Root showed a position from 1...d6 move by move (Cyrus Lakdawala, Everyman Chess, 2011, p. 13) to the Denton High School chess club students.

White: Kg3, Rooks a1, b4; Pawns b5, f3, g2, h4. Black: Kg8, Rook at c5, Ns c5, c8, Pawns a7, b6, g7, h6. Black to move and eventually tie White down to defending b5. Pairs of students worked out Black's dream position and then actual lines of black moves and white moves before Dr. Root showed the game continuation.
