I attended the Texas Chess Association business meeting this morning. The TCA meeting was at 10 a.m., before the 12:30 fourth round of the Southwest Open. After the election results were reported, the four new board members took their places: President Clemente Rendon, Vice President Lakshmana Viswanath “Vish,” Treasurer Barbara Swafford, and Secretary Robert Sturgeon.

Luis Salinas had several motions, mostly bids for upcoming events and recognition and stipends for Texas scholastic players in international events. Bids were accepted, recognition passed, and stipend requests were referred to the TCA board. Clemente Rendon made a motion for the Texas Knights editor's salary to rise from $300 to $400 per issue. That motion passed. Most of the rest of the meeting was discussion. Around 10 people, in addition to the four-person board, attended.
